Incident Management Training Environment

The IMTE Simulator is a collaborative project using the Unity game engine between the University of Idaho and the Moscow Police Department for CS Security Consulting used for training first responders in dangerous environments. My role in this project was to optimize pre-existing assets, build new assets (weapons, a multitude of swappable clothing items for character models such as tank tops, pants, shorts, hats, shorts and the base male and female character models that were used for animation), and texturing all of the models that I created.

  • Simplifying assets increased the low end simulator frame rate to 250FPS (The original build ran about 2-12FPS; that's about a 7,200% increase!)
  • After adding 300+ objects, materials, lighting, 20+ characters, the low end target computer ran 70-80FPS (~1,980%)

*The following pictures below were provided by teammate Melo Maiolie.  The first image shows the original build provided to us by previous students, and the picture after shows the build after we optimized it.  Notice the variety of textures, lighting and character models that were animated.
